Vanity

America is not the land of the free or a democracy 

but a nation where illusions thrive 

and the national sports are get rich quickly scams 

where hypocrisy is state of the art 

and the road to riches is paved with lies and alibis 

with a culture of gratuitous greed 

a country in love with itself as a bombastic fantasy

where love is a product at a price  

and presidential candidates must be promiscuous.
